We recently published our Samsung Galaxy A27 5G review, and we’re now focusing on its gaming capabilities.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G good for gaming?
To help our mobile gamer audiences, we tested playing popular games on this phone, and we will answer the question: “Is the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G good for gaming?”

To recall, the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is Samsung’s latest budget smartphone. It has a starting price of PHP 18,990. With that price, I am curious to see if it can deliver a good gaming experience.
The Galaxy A27 5G is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset with an Adreno 710 GPU. It is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Meanwhile, it runs One UI 8.5 based on Android 16.
Its chipset is almost two years old, but it is still a good lower mid-range chipset. Having 5G support is also a plus, especially when you play online games with your mobile data.

In benchmarks, it scored 12,884 in PCMark 3.1 and around 835,724 in AnTuTu Benchmark. Those scores are decent for this price range. There are phones at this price range that deliver better performance, but the hardware and benchmark scores of the Galaxy A27 5G are still considered competitive.
The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G also features a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. You will get colorful and vibrant visuals on its display. That is a plus when you’re into gaming.

I’d also like to mention that the unit I have is the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. However, you can expect slightly smoother overall performance when you get the 8GB +256GB variant. Higher memory also means better multitasking performance.

Verdict
Is the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G good for gaming? The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G gave me a decent gaming experience in playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Call of Duty: Mobile, and League of Legends: Wild Rift. There are noticeable frame drops, especially during clashes with lots of animations.
When playing Genshin Impact, I also experience frame drops, but it is still acceptable since that is a resource-hungry game. Although honestly, I expected it to have poor performance when running this kind of game, but I was wrong.

In terms of heat management, the Galaxy A27 5G warms quickly when playing games. It’s better to play in an air-conditioned room to avoid this issue.
The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is a good choice for light or casual gaming if you’re considering buying it. However, I’d recommend skipping this one and going for the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G instead if you play resource-hungry games, although there’s a noticeable price difference between the two.
That said, if the Galaxy A27 5G fits your budget or it’s the phone you really want, I’d still recommend it. Just buy the 8GB RAM variant because having 6GB RAM today is a bottleneck, even if it has a decent-performing chipset.
