I’ve been using the iPhone 17 Pro Max for almost a year, and I am curious about what next innovation Apple can offer with the iPhone 18 Pro Series. So, I watched the livestream of the Apple Event today, where they launched the new iPhone 18 Pro Series and iPhone Duo.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max now feature the new 3nm Apple A20 Pro chipset, delivering a 20% performance boost and a 40% improvement in GPU performance. Its chipset now offers 50% more memory bandwidth, while its Neural Engine now has 32 cores, delivering better AI processing power than the A19 Pro chip.
They both feature an upgraded 48MP main camera that now features a variable aperture. It now provides enhanced camera performance and great low-light capabilities.

One of the best news on this series is the Pro Control feature. Basically, it is the same as the Pro Mode that we usually see on Android devices. Besides that, it also comes with upgraded Photographic Styles with new texture and grain controls.
It is also good to hear that the iPhone 18 Pro now has up to 36 hours of battery life, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max offers up to 45 hours. We currently don’t have the exact battery capacity yet, but it sure has increased slightly as well.
Both devices still have the same display size as their predecessor, but now use advanced display technology. Apple upgraded the Dynamic Island, and it can now show three Live Activities at once.

iPhone Duo
While the most awaited device by Apple fans is their foldable iPhone, which they called the iPhone Duo. It really looks like the leaked photos and dummy units we saw before, so I was not that surprised by the design.
I’m interested in the iPhone Duo since I tried the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 in person, which has a similar shape. I’m just not a big fan of its design because it looks like the Microsoft Surface Duo and the newly launched Xiaomi 18 Fold.
Apple highlights the iPhone Duo’s durability, as it uses grade 5 titanium and features Ceramic Shield 2.

The new iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display, while the outer display is 5.4 inches.
It is also powered by the 2nm A20 Pro chip, which is better for multitasking. Since it also runs iOS 27, it comes with improved Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI.
In terms of the camera, the iPhone Duo has a 48MP main camera and a 48MP Ultra Wide lens for the rear camera setup.
What’s on My Mind
The new iPhone 18 Series’ upgrades and new features make it more worth considering, especially for those fans who buy a new iPhone every time there’s a new release. However, Apple also increased the price, making it quite expensive. So, if you’re using an iPhone 17 Pro Max like me, I think you should skip this one for now.
The new iPhone Duo is also good because, first of all, this is a new form factor for an iOS device. It’s interesting, but as a content creator, it still feels like it is lacking for professional use, and I would stick with the Pro or Pro Max variants.
However, since it has a new aspect ratio, expect that apps will not be stable or at least the layout of some apps may not look good. Still, I am happy that Apple finally launched a foldable phone. Let’s just expect that it will improve even more in the next versions. The only problem is that I find it extremely expensive.
Price and Availability
The iPhone 18 Pro Series starts at PHP 94,990, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at PHP 99,990. Meanwhile, the new iPhone Duo starts at PHP 159,990 and will be available at a later date. For now, we are waiting for updates on when the new iPhones will officially be released in the Philippines.
