Infinix Philippines just launched its new HOT 60 Series, including the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ and HOT 60 Pro. Luckily, they sent us the HOT 60 Pro and HOT 60i review units, and we’ll be testing these phones in the following days. For now, I’d like to share with you our initial impressions of the Infinix HOT 60i.

Design and Build Quality
One of the highlights of the Infinix HOT 60i is its slim body, tho it’s not the slimmest in the series. It has a 7.7mm thickness and weighs 188g, making it easy to hold.
The Infinix HOT 60i features a minimalist design that resembles its bigger brother, but it boasts a glossy camera island with silver or metallic sides. Meanwhile, its back has a matte finish. Infinix claimed that it has a four-corner reinforcement design and has 1.5m drop resistance. It also has an IP64 dust & waterproof resistance. With those resistance ratings, you are assured that it has good build quality.

For buttons and ports, the 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, USB-C port, and main stereo speaker are located at the bottom, while the secondary speaker is at the top. Its One-Tap AI button, power button, and volume rocker are on the right side, and the dedicated SIM tray is on the left side.
There are also a lot of eye-catching colorways of this device, like Titanium Silver, Sleek Black, Shadow Blue, Neon Red, Meadow Green, and Soul Eye Purple.

Display
In terms of display, the Infinix HOT 60i has a large 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, always-on display, and up to 700nits max brightness.
Its screen is decent, even though it only has HD+ resolution. This is enough for entertainment and basic use.

Camera System
While this phone doesn’t focus on the camera, it still has a 50MP main camera, two auxiliary lenses, and an 8MP selfie camera that can provide decent image quality.
Its camera can shoot up to 2K@30fps video resolution. Its camera modes include time-lapse, AI Cam, Portrait Mode, Super Night Mode, AIGC, Vlog, Slow Motion, Dual Video, Panorama, Pro, and Documents.

Performance
Since it is the cheapest in the series, the Infinix HOT 60i is only powered by the 12nm MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM. Our review unit only has 4GB of RAM but supports the RAM Expansion feature of up to 4GB of Virtual RAM.
I already tested playing some games on this phone, and it gave a decent experience, not seamless, but very playable for its price.
Keep in mind that you can still encounter some frame drops since its chipset is just an entry-level one, plus our review unit’s RAM size limits its full potential. But its performance is sufficient for the common apps we are using, like social media apps. I suggest getting the 8GB RAM variant for you to have a better experience.

Moreover, it has up to 256GB internal storage that can expand via a microSD card slot up to 1TB. This storage capacity can be considered large for its price.

Software
The device runs on the latest XOS 15, based on Android 15 out of the box. Its bigger brothers, or the Pro variants, can get up to 5 years of software support; we don’t have any details about its software support.
But based on my initial test of this device, I have no problem with its software. I love how the software handles the hardware; even with limited memory, it still gives an optimized experience.

Battery
Even though it has a slim body, it still manages to carry a large 5,160mAh battery capacity. Its battery can deliver a whole day of juice; it scored 13 hours and 45 minutes in PCMark Work 3.0 battery benchmark.
Since it only has an HD+ resolution display, you will feel its battery efficiency. You can surely get hours of gaming, productivity, and entertainment from this device.

Initial Thoughts
For its specs, its pricing is just right since this device can deliver us a decent experience in camera, display, performance, and of course, battery and design. Again, I recommend buying the 8GB/256GB variant for you to have a better experience, especially in multitasking and gaming.
I won’t have the chance to test this phone further in the coming weeks since I need to return our review unit. But this phone is perfect for students who are looking for a reliable smartphone on a budget.
