realme 14 Pro+ 5G First impressions(4)

The realme 14 Pro+ 5G is here, bringing a stunning color-changing design, powerful cameras, and top-notch performance. We got our hands on it — from its Unique Pearl Design to its 50MP OIS camera, there’s a lot to be excited about. Curious if it lives up to the hype? Let’s dive into our first impressions!

Unboxing Experience

So, if you haven’t watched my unboxing video yet, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G comes in a yellow box with the same design as its predecessors. However, this time, there’s an AI label in the upper-right corner of the box, giving us a hint of what to expect.

Upon opening the box, you’ll first see a cardboard insert with “Make it real.” printed on it. Inside this are the documentation, a SIM ejector tool, and a silicone case. Beneath that, you’ll find the realme 14 Pro+ 5G itself, along with a USB-C cable and an 80W SUPERVOOC charger.

Design and Build Quality

Our review unit, the Pearl White colorway, features a stunning Unique Pearl Design, inspired by the ocean. Interestingly, this design took nearly a year to develop, in collaboration with TOP Design Studios in Europe and Valeur Designers, specialists in industrial lifestyle product design. The result is an eye-catching aesthetic that truly stands out.

Not only does it look premium, but it is also resistant to stains from coffee, oil, smudges, and fingerprints—ensuring that it stays clean and pristine.

One of its most unique features is its cold-sensitive color-changing technology. When exposed to temperatures below 16°C, the phone’s color shifts, making it the world’s first smartphone with this innovation. While this feature may not be very practical in most parts of the Philippines due to the warm climate, it can still be experienced in colder locations like Mt. Pulag, where temperatures can drop significantly. I even saw a post where someone tested it there, and the color change was clearly visible—definitely a cool feature to show off!

By the way, there’s another color option called Suede Grey, but unlike the Unique Pearl Design, it doesn’t have the color-changing feature.

As for the build quality, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G feels solid and durable. While realme hasn’t officially mentioned anything, if we can drop test it, the device boasts Military-Grade Shock Resistance and is TÜV Rheinland Rugged Smartphone Certified, ensuring that it can withstand tough conditions.

It also comes with IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings, meaning it is dust and water-resistant and can even be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. This makes it an excellent choice for content creators, especially those who love filming near water or going for a swim.

Ports and Buttons

For ports and buttons, on the left side of the phone, there’s nothing present — it’s completely empty. Moving to the right side, you’ll find the volume rockers and power button, positioned comfortably for easy access.

At the bottom, the device houses a dual nano SIM tray, a microphone, a USB-C port, and the main stereo speaker. Meanwhile, on the top side, there appear to be two microphones along with the secondary speaker, although I’m not entirely sure about their exact purpose just yet.

Camera System

One of the most striking design elements of the realme 14 Pro+ 5G is its large camera island, giving it a premium and standout look. This section holds a triple-camera setup powered by Sony sensors, along with the MagicGlow Triple Flash, which we’ll dive deeper into during our full review.

For the camera specs, the main camera features a 50MP Sony IMX896 sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), capable of capturing sharp and detailed photos. The telephoto lens also comes with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS, offering up to 120x digital zoom. Additionally, there’s an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens for capturing broader shots.

On the front, it has a 32MP Ultra Clear Selfie Camera, ensuring high-quality selfies and video calls.

Display & Performance

The front of the device has a very large 6.83-inch Quad-Curve OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. I must admit, it takes some time to get used to because of its sheer size, but it’s perfect for watching videos or playing games.

Speaking of gaming, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, ensuring smooth performance for gaming and multitasking. It also comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Out of the box, it runs realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15.

For battery juice, it packs a massive 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, so you won’t have to worry about running out of power quickly.

Based on the specs alone, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G looks promising. However, whether it’s truly worth buying will depend on its official pricing. Hopefully, by the time we publish the full review, we’ll have the price details.
