Aside from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, we also got the chance to try the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 during a media preview.

This device is my favorite among the new foldable lineup since it is more pocketable but also very capable. So, let me share my first impressions of the Galaxy Z Flip7.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Design

Design and Build Quality

I’ve used a flip smartphone before, and one of the things I always look at is the design and build quality. Well, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is not that eye-turner, but I love its simplicity. I think it is more of functionality than looks because of its large cover screen.

Its frame still looks like its predecessor, but now has a slimmer body. This flip phone has a 13.7mm thickness when folded, while 6.5mm thickness when unfolded. It weighs 188g, 1g heavier than its predecessor.

It promises a durable design since its cover and back have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Besides, this also has Armor FlexHinge and Armor Aluminum Frame. You will also notice that it has good build quality when you hold it.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 arrived in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, Coralred, and Mint colorways. Take note that the Mint colorway is a Samsung.com Exclusive.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Camera

Camera System

For the camera, we can see no upgrades since it still uses a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP selfie shoot. While there’s no significant upgrade, it can still produce high-quality photos and videos.

You can also shoot vivid photos in low-light environments with minimal noise and blurred frames with its Enhanced Nightography feature. While its 10-bit HDR support allows you to get vibrant color, deeper contrast, and more realistic detail in video.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Cover screen

I personally love its real-time filters as they improve the scenery of your photos. While the Zoom Slider helps users to zoom in or use ultra-wide for their selfies. We tried it and it is very helpful.

With its Dual Preview feature, it is easy to frame and post, especially if you are alone. Since this is a flip phone, I love how easy I can capture selfies without needing a tripod, since I can just put it somewhere and then shoot.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Inner screen

Display

One of the things I love about the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is its larger displays. This now comes with a large 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

While its FlexWindow or cover screen is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It is good to know that its cover screen has a high refresh rate feature since other flip phones don’t support it. Both of its displays also support up to 2,600nits max brightness.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Cover screen(1)

I really love its FlexWindow since it has very thin bezels, giving more screen real estate. Its crease is also not that noticeable compared to its predecessor.

Performance

The Samsung Z Flip7 is also powerful, as it is powered by the 3nm Exynos 2500 deca-core chipset with Xclipse 950 GPU. This chipset is paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage.

While I’m not totally familiar with the Exynos chipset, I think it can still meet your task demands since it has more cores. However, I’m also not sure about its thermals, since its predecessor is prone to overheating.

In the media preview, we also tried its AI features, and it processes quickly. This device feels snappy, tho I’m not able to fully try it during the event or even play games on it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7

Battery

Samsung also upgraded the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip7 to 4,300mAh, which can deliver enough battery life. It uses a dual battery to achieve its slimmer body, even though it has a bigger battery capacity.

This phone supports 25W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. I have noticed that Samsung’s latest devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7, only support 25W and 15W wireless charging, which can be considered slower than their competitors.

Software

For software, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 runs the latest One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. Like in the Galaxy Z Fold7, the One UI 8 also runs smoothly in this phone, giving a lightweight and optimized feel.

This phone boasts Gemini Live, which I also love since it is easier to communicate with AI to ask questions, suggestions, etc.

Price and Availability

  • 12GB/256GB – PHP 70,990
