Smart Communications, Inc., the wireless unit of PLDT Inc., closed 2025 strong, posting 5% quarter-on-quarter revenue growth in Q4, signaling a rebound after slower performance earlier in the year.
Smart’s Q4 boost came from higher Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and improved subscriber numbers. Smart Prepaid saw a 5% ARPU rise, while TNT added 3%, helping drive 606,079 net subscriber additions with churn stable at 2.5%.
5G adoption also powered growth. Smart’s network now serves 11.2 million 5G-latched devices, up 35% year-on-year, with more affordable 5G smartphones pushing an 88% increase in 5G data traffic. Fixed Wireless Access revenue jumped 22% to ₱1.8 billion, thanks to wider use of 5G routers.
Smart’s network excellence earned Ookla’s “Best Mobile Latency” award, highlighting faster streaming, gaming, video calls, and mobile payments.
“Our 2025 results show solid progress in customer value and network quality. We ended the year with momentum heading into 2026,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP and co-officer-in-charge.
Marjorie C. Garrovillo, FVP and co-officer-in-charge, added, “As 5G adoption scales, Smart is committed to delivering reliable, high-quality connectivity while supporting the Philippines’ digital growth.”
With subscriber growth, stronger ARPU, and rising 5G adoption, Smart is set for sustained growth in 2026.
